And there it was.. it was reported by the media dat the Islamic Action Front leader Fathi Yakan died today after he was admitted to Hotel Dieu Hospital Friday night. Al-Fatihah...

Marha, marha.. Ar-Rijal Al-Istiqamah!

Alhamdulillah... no other words could best describe our gratitude to Allah s.w.t, for with his will, we were given the chance to have some special visitors recently. On the 8th of June 2009, we received a special visit from ‘Ar-Rijal Al-Istiqamah Youth Wing’ (belia Masjid Al-Istiqamah), Singapore. Ar-Rijal was formed in September 1999, and has since then, been actively involved in organising and participating in cluster, national and regional programmes. They were on a four-day-trip to KL, from the 5th till the 8th of June. They arrived in IIUM at about 1030 a.m, and were escorted to the Ahmad Ibrahim Kuliyyah of Laws Moot Court.

We managed to conduct a special session with our guests. The session was first started with a wonderful Quranic Recitation by Bro Mohd Suffian Mohd Donia, who recited verses 3 to 16 of Surah al-Hujurat. Later, the president of Ma’ruf Club, Bro Mohd Faridzul delivered his welcoming speech and gave a brief introduction of the club, and was followed by the Youth Development Officer of Ar-Rijal Al-Istiqamah, Bro Izhar, who also gave a brief introduction of their youth wing. Shortly after that, the floor was opened for a question and answer session, in which ideas and opinions were shared between both organisations, mostly pertaining to the strategies to re-energize our dakwah approach among today’s youths. The session went on until around 1215 p.m and was ended with a du’a recitation by Bro Mohd Suffian. Before dispersing, we did not miss the opportunity to have a few snaps of photos to capture the memorable get-together of two different societies from two different countries.

Even though both societies are basically quite different in nature and structure, we do have one thing in common- we have the mission of spreading dakwah, especially among the young people, because we realize that today’s youngsters are the becoming leaders of tomorrow. We do hope that this first meeting is only the beginning of an everlasting relationship... for the sake of Allah and His Deen, insyaAllah.

Marha, marha..!

* “Marha, marha” is the culture in Singapore. They use it to greet or welcome people. Instead of clapping their hands, they say “marha, marha!”.
